I'm Johanna, founder of NOUS Media Lab, with over 20 years of experience producing multiplatform content, building bilingual communication strategies, securing authentic media coverage, and strengthening journalism programs. My work is driven by one goal: building genuine connections through cultural insight and trust.

My journey began in the newsrooms of Colombia, where I built my foundation as a reporter and an editor, in a culture that values on-the-ground reporting and public service. From there, I spent a decade guiding the next generation of journalists as a university professor by designing curriculum, mentoring over 100 students, and leading a university media outlet and a multiplatform journalism lab.

I've brought that combination of fieldwork and academic leadership into public media in the U.S., where I've produced audio, video, and web storytelling, built the media relationships that get community stories told well, and worked to communicate and transcreate, not translate, content for Spanish-speaking and bilingual audiences. My work is driven by a deep sense of responsibility to the communities I serve, with a special connection to Hispanic and Latino populations.

I hold a PhD. in Communication, a proper master's in digital journalism, and a B.A. in Social Communication-Journalism. I'm ready to bring that full range, from reporting, teaching, and bilingual communication to your next project.
